What a fantastic day for Moss Side and a fantastic opportunity for Strive4Purpose to connect with the community.
The Moss Side Together Festival, held at Broadfield Park on 24 July 2026, brought local people, families, community organisations and service providers together for a day focused on community, activities and positive connections.
Strive4Purpose was proud to be part of it.
For us, the festival wasn’t simply an opportunity to have a stand and tell people our name. It gave us the chance to have real conversations about what we’re trying to achieve, introduce people to our projects and raise awareness of the different ways Strive4Purpose is working to create opportunities within our communities.
Raising Awareness of Strive4Purpose
One of our biggest priorities as a growing charity is making sure people understand what Strive4Purpose is about.
Our work brings together environmental responsibility, practical skills, youth engagement, employability and pathways towards work.
The Moss Side Together Festival gave us a brilliant opportunity to explain that approach face-to-face.
The response we received to the charity and our projects was extremely encouraging. People were interested in what we’re building, why we’re doing it and, importantly, how they could become involved.
Those conversations are invaluable.
Every person who learns about Strive4Purpose has the potential to become a participant, supporter, partner, employer, volunteer, referrer or simply someone who tells another person about the opportunities available.
Talking About WEEE Recycling
The festival also gave us an opportunity to raise awareness about WEEE recycling Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
Electrical waste is something almost every household and organisation produces, but many people are still unaware of what can be reused, refurbished or responsibly recycled.
For Strive4Purpose, WEEE has an additional dimension.
It isn’t only about keeping electrical equipment out of inappropriate waste streams. We want to use recycling, repair, refurbishment and associated activities to create opportunities for people to gain practical experience and develop skills.
That turns something that might otherwise be considered waste into a resource for both the environment and the community.
Putting Youth Engagement on the Agenda
We were also able to talk to visitors about our youth engagement work.
Engaging young people early, giving them something constructive to participate in and helping them see genuine possibilities for their future can make a lasting difference.
Our aim is to create practical opportunities rather than simply talking about change.
Events such as Moss Side Together help us meet young people, parents, organisations and potential partners in the communities where that work can have the greatest impact.
New Conversations and New Connections
Another major positive from the day was the number of contacts we were able to make.
Community work doesn’t happen successfully in isolation.
It requires partnerships between charities, residents, businesses, local organisations, education providers and people who genuinely want to make a difference.
The festival created exactly the kind of environment where those conversations can begin naturally.
We came away with new contacts, new ideas and potential opportunities to work with others in the future.
Thank You, Moss Side
Most importantly, it was simply a great day.
There was a strong sense of community, plenty of positive conversations and a real willingness from people to find out more about the organisations working locally.
We would like to thank everyone who stopped to speak to the Strive4Purpose team, asked questions, shared ideas or expressed an interest in supporting our work.
We’d also like to thank everyone involved in organising the Moss Side Together Festival and creating an opportunity for local organisations and the community to come together.
This is exactly what community engagement should look like — people meeting, talking, sharing ideas and creating connections that can lead to something bigger.
We were proud to be part of it, and we’re looking forward to building on the conversations that started that day.
Together, we can turn purpose into opportunity.
